FAQs
Our Clouds are available for a minium of 4 people, whether that be friendship groups, families, support groups, or a combination of all three. However, for individuals wishing to attend local Cloud sessions, please email your details (including location) and we'll get in touch when there is availability in your area. Alternatively you can enquire about our Home Visit Service (subject to location).
Not at all. Our Clouds offer a complete set of sensory tools, as well as relaxation techniques to help remove stress, overcome trauma and grief and build deeper connections. Our massage technique is the foundation upon which everything comes together.
Yes, participation is essential not only to learn the massage routine, but also to connect and appreciate the benefits of positive interaction with others. This will reinforce the therapeutic support. But don't worry, most people are shy initially. Our approach is very gentle and supportive and honestly the experience is more uplifting and enjoyable than anything else.
No. The massage technique is designed simply to use as a communication tool. It's for family and friends and so a formal qualification is unnecessary. In respect of care organisations, staff should have liability insurance for the use of creams and lotions and can easily introduce the massage routine into a personal care setting.
Yes, the hand and arm massage pressure is very gentle, specifically designed to be used as a communicative and uplifiting tool. We do provide a list of contraindications, where massage may not be recommended, both for attendees and at home on their cared-for.
We supply the oils during the sessions. We use a combination of different oils, apart from nut oils. Our main carrier oil is soya bean and wheatgerm oil (blended with a small amount of true lavender oil). We also have coconut oil and grapeseed for those not wishing to use lavender. We will cover the oils recommended for home use during the session.
We will offer a list of contraindications to all participants attending. Included will be a list of the essential oils vaporised throughout the session. In general we use very gentle therapeutic oils and apart from Lavender (unless not considered appropriate for use), no other essential oils will be used upon the skin of any attendee.
Our Cloud sessions last around two hours; our larger groups may take a little extra, as we want to ensure everybody is familiar with the massage routine. Attending just one Cloud session will give you all you need to set up a therapeutic environment, allowing for a deeper connection to the person you care for.
Unfortunately we do not recommend attendance of a person with dementia, simply because our clouds are offering support, respite and a skill-based learning environment for the carer. We do offer home visits for families, where the person with dementia may participate. For organisations, we can adapt a Cloud session for families and those in the early stages of dementia, but these would be extended in time, with smaller groups and at a higher cost.
No, unless specifically requested by an organisation and agreed with all participants. Some of our Clouds cover delicate subjects and we make the environment as safe and as supportive as possible. It is a requirement all mobile phones are switched off during a Cloud session, or on silent mode. (NB - The photos and videos on our website were agreed with organisations, dementia families and young carers beforehand, in order to bring awareness to funding campaigns and services)
Yes. Attending a Cloud session entitles you a Caring Cloud Membership Service. This gives access to, amongst other benefits, support by email with any concerns in using your tools at home and for others. Also we welcome contact from all those who have attended. We encourage journalling and feedback of any positive experiences whilst using our tools.
